01 — ATTEND

Meetings are open to everyone

Families, staff, and community members are welcome to attend, learn what's happening at TOPS, share ideas and perspectives, and participate in discussions.

ASL interpretation is provided at every meeting, and other accommodations are available on request — please reach out to sitecouncil-chair@topsk8.org.

02 — REPRESENT

Serve as your grade-level family representative

Grade-level representatives connect the families in their grade to the wider Site Council community.

General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as liaison between Site Council and the families of the grade band represented and check in regularly with the grade band (e.g., soliciting input and questions in advance of meetings, sending follow up messages on meeting announcements and other updates)
  • Advocate for interests of grade band
  • Communicate questions, concerns, and feedback of families to Site Council
  • Participate in one of the Site Council RFP (Request for Funding Proposal) committees in the spring
  • Participate in one Site Council committee/working group
  • Represent Site Council at one TOPS event
  • Support Site Council and volunteer recruiting efforts
  • Support Communication Chair parent directory/contact information updates process by encouraging grade band participation

Average monthly time commitment (including one 1.5-hour monthly meeting): 2 to 4 hours

03 — VOLUNTEER

Join a committee or help with a specific project.

Committees meet through the year; projects are one-off asks with a clear start and finish. Tell us roughly how much time you have and we'll match you to something that fits.

Each TOPS grade has an optional email group for sharing school news, events, volunteer opportunities, fundraising, Site Council updates, and grade-level activities.
